چکیده
is one of ten regional units mandated by Congress and established in Fall 1988 to support research, education, and training in surface transportation. The UC Center serves federal Region 1X and is supported by matching grants from tile U. Angeles: and several academic departments at the Berkeley, Davis, lrvine, and Los Angeles campuses. Faculty and students on other University of California campuses may participate in Center activities. Researchers at other universities within the region also have opportunities to collaborate on selected studies. Currently faculty active participants. UCTC's educational and research programs are focused on strategic planning for improving metropolitan accessibility, with emphasis on the special conditions in Region IX. Particular attention is directed to strategies for using transportation as an instrument of economic development, while also accommodating to the re-gion's persistent expansion and while maintaining and enhancing the quality of life there. The Center distributes reports on its research in working papers, monographs, and in reprints of published articles. For a list of publications in print, write to the address below. Authors of papers reporling on UCTC-sponsored research are solely responsible for their content. Transportation, neither of which assumes liability for its content or use.

Application of Discrete 3-level Nested Logit Model in Travel Demand Forecasting as an Alternative to Traditional 4-Step Model
This paper aims to introduce a new modelling approach that represents departure time, destination and travel mode choice under a unified framework. Through it, it is possible to overcome shortages of the traditional 4-step model associated with the lack of introducing actual travellers’ behaviours. This objective can be achieved through adopting discrete 3-level Nested Logit model that represen...
متن کاملTowards Disaggregate Dynamic Travel Forecasting Models
The authors argue that travel forecasting models should be dynamic and disaggregate in their representation of demand, supply, and supply-demand interactions, and propose a framework for such models. The proposed framework consists of disaggregate activity-based representation of travel choices of individual motorists on the demand side integrated with disaggregate dynamic modeling of network p...
متن کامل- 1 - An Application of a Micro - simulator of Daily Travel and Dynamic Network Flow to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Selected TDM Measures for CO
An activity-based micro-simulation model of daily travel and a dynamic network simulator are integrated to form a model system for travel demand forecasting. The model system is applied in this study to evaluate the effectiveness of selected TDM measures for CO2 emissions reduction in the City of Kyoto. The results demonstrate the practicality of the micro-simulation approach in travel demand f...
متن کاملLiterature Review of Traffic Assignment: Static and Dynamic
Rapid urban growth is resulting into increase in travel demand and private vehicle ownership in urban areas. In the present scenario the existing infrastructure has failed to match the demand that leads to traffic congestion, vehicular pollution and accidents. With traffic congestion augmentation on the road, delay of commuters has increased and reliability of road network has decreased. Four s...
متن کاملMaking Household Microsimulation of Travel and Activities Accessible to Planners
There is a large gap between the aggregate, trip-based models used by transportation planning agencies and the activity-based, microsimulation methods being espoused by those at the forefront of research. The modeling environment presented here aims to bridge this gap by providing a palatable way for planning agencies to move towards advanced methods. Three components to bridging the gap are em...
